Special effects are divided in 2 categories: optical effects and mechanical effects. With the emergence of digital film-making tools a greater distinction between special effects and visual effects has been recognized.
Optical effects are also called photographic effects. Optical effects are techniques in which images or film frames are created photographically, using multiple exposure or using an optical printer.
An optical effect are used to put actors or places in different backgrounds.
Mechanical effects are usually accomplished during the live-action shooting. Mechanical effects are often incorporated into set design and makeup.

FORREST...FORREST GUMP
This movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis. This is a comedy drama movie which includes a lot of good visual effects. This film garnered a lot of awards and nominations.
The blue screen was used several times in the movie Forrest Gump.
The movie producers filmed Tom Hanks in front of a blue screen, pretending he was next to the President J.F.K. they used computer effect to insert Hanks into an old film where President Kennedy was. For the mouth movement were hired voice doubles, and some visual effects were add too, to make possible the dialogue.
He is also on the Dick Cavett show with John Lennon; it was so amazing to make this possible. In this scene Forrest Gump was insert in the film instead of Yoko Ono, this scene was taken from the Dick Cavett show in 1971. But what you don’t know is that Dick Cavett played himself for the filming, so he used a lot of make up to look as young as he was at the 70`s.
They also let us see Lieutenant Dan without his legs in several times; they also used the blue screen with that but it was harder, because Lieutenant Dan did a lot of things and he moved everywhere and it was harder for them. But finally they did it.
This great Visual Effects were possible because of Ken Ralston and his team at Industrial Light & Magic work. This visual effects depended a lot in the actor and in the ones who controlled the visual effects, because the needed a lot of concentration to connect the blue screen and the actor, because it had to be perfect. They did a really great work and they made one of the best movies with visual effect that anyone have ever done.

There’s like a huge fight between the deceptegons and the autobots. At the end, Sam pushes the Cube into megatrons chest and he "dies".
After this you could see how autobots and people can have a good relationship (:

The Butterfly Effect...

The Butterfly Effect is a 20o4 American psychological thriller film directed and written by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber.
Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher), who suffered severe traumas as a boy and a teenager ,blacks out frequently, often at moments of high stress. While in his dorm room reading one of his journals to a girl, he finds that when he reads from his adolescent journals, he travels back in time, and is able to go back to parts of his past. There are consequences to his choices, however, that he then propagates back to the present: his alternate futures vary from frat boy to prisoner to amputee. His efforts are driven by the desire to undo the most traumatic events of his childhood which coincide with his blackouts, including saving the love of his life Kayleigh (Amy Smart), from being molested by her father and tormented by her crazy brother (William Lee Scott).
The actions he takes, and those he enables others to take during his blackouts, change the timeline in the new future wherein he awakes. As he continues to do this, he realizes that even though his intentions are good, the actions he takes have bad consequences. This causes him brain damage. Ultimately he decides that his attempts to alter the past end up only harming those he cares about. He travels back in time once more to the first day he met Kayleigh and scares her away. He succeeds in undoing his childhood as he knew it, and then destroys all his journals so that he's not tempted to bring any of it back.
The film end is the less expected and for me is very sad. The butterfly effect is one of my favorites movies, and Ashton Kutcher is my favorite actor and I think he did a really great job. So I recommend you this movie.
