MUSIC IN MOVIES

Music is a very Essentials part in most of the Films, and more in drama. The Soundtrack is one of the factors that make a movie succeed.

The filmmakers realize that the movies depend of the music, and that are a lot of ways to have music in the movies; like in musicals because the musical are based in songs.

It doesn’t matter which genre of film it is, it Could be action, drama, comedy, romantic, they are always going to have music, because it is a fact that the music let the viewer feel what the scene wants to transmit, and that makes the viewer be more focus in the movie.

Songs are used in movies to show all kinds of emotions and to make the viewer get involve in the movie.

GOING THE DISTANCE

The main characters are Erin (Drew Barrymore) and Garret (Justin Long), they fall in love in 6 weeks, the only problem that they had is that they live in different cities, so they started a long distance relationship. This movie shows us that no matter what love always win; and also that If we love someone we have to do everything for them and not just think in our own goods, also think in theirs.

With this movie we can learn the meaning of friendship and love.

In this movie we can see the use of every kind of shots, they go from bird-eye shot to close-up shot; the music they use go with every scene, because they match the music with the things that are happening, so that makes the viewer get into the movie and feel what they are feeling.

Also Nanette Burstein had made other movies like: American Teen, On the Ropes, The Kid stays in the picture, Film school, Autobiography, American Shopper and more.

PLEASANTVILLE EFFECT

The Pleasantville effect is one of the best effects I`ve ever seen, we can use it in videos or in photos.

The pleasantville consist in that everything in the Photo or the video is in Black and White except for one color you can choose. It makes our video or Photo look more professional and it capt our attention.

The time you want to do the Pleasantville effect in a video you can do it in the program you want such as Final cut, Adobe alter Effects, Sony Vegas, etc.

A lot of movies such as Schindler´s list use the Pleasantville effect, to creat a new way of watching the movie, and also to make us focus in just one point.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

But this movie teaches us some lessons for our life, one of them is that we don`t have to change for anyone in our life, and the other one is that to succed in life we had to choose our own lessons without thinking in the opinions of others.

One of the things that called my attention is that this movie was filmed in a loto f locations such as Musée Galliera, 10 avenue, Paris – France and obviously New York.

It was nominated for 2 Oscars, had 8 wins and25 nominations.

This is a comedy movie that you would really enjoy, so I hope you like it :)

BLACK AND WHITE AND COLOR

In 1925, films were just in black-white, and the camera was just sensitive to the brighter light. So that was a problems for the actor, `cause sometimes, some actors `skin color made them look darker in some places.

The first person to film in colors was Robert Flaherty, who filmed his documentary Nanook of the North, so from then to now, people started using this filters, to make their movies better and to capture the attention of the viewer.

This helped a lot of movie makers, to make their works a film more brighter and entertainment .

MOULIN ROUGE!

Hey guys, today I´m going to talk about the movie MOULIN ROUGE; this movie was directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Craig Pearce .

This movie Is about a courtesan named Satine (Nicole Kidman) , and a writer named Christian (Evan McGregor). The writer felt in love with the courtesan, and they love each other with all their hard, but the problem was that Satine`s heart was sold, It was sold to a rich Duke; so they keep their love in secret… This Story Is about Freedom, and above All Things This Story Is About Love, This story is about love, overcoming all obstacles.

THE PARENT TRAP

Hey guys, the movie I´m going to talk about today is "The parent Trap", directed by Nancy Meyers; this film belongs to the comedy genre.

This movie is about two identical twins( Lindsay Lohan), that meet in a summer camp, and realize they were sisters, so they decided to change places to know more about their parents, Hallie would go to her mom´s house in London and Annie would go to her dad´s house in California; they would enjoy to be there with their parents and they have a lot of fun, but then a problem comes out....

This movie has a lot of great effects, and it has too a really good film editor, because he did a really great job with the "twins", it looks so real, and it didnt have any mistake.

This movie has a great message for the family; that the love of a mother would never be replace and the love of a dad would never be forget. It shows us that a person or in this case two sister could change things!

SCRIPTS =)

Hey guys, I`m going to talk about the scripts, scripts are basically use to prepare a text for a filming or broadcasting. The is one of the most important parts in a film, because without script, the movie would not have dialogues, settings, anything.

The script let the movie be interesting or really boring; the first thing you have to do to make a movie is to have a script that from the moment you read it, you have the reader attention, and you make him want to know more about your story,

Scripts guide the actor in the movie, because it give them the dialogue, the expression they need to demostrate and the actions they have to realize. Scripts give life to the movie and let the imagination of the actor grow.

In conclusion scripts are the main part of a movie, video making because it has the key of every single detail of it.

THE NOTEBOOK

Hey guys, I´m going to talk about "The Notebook" by Nicholas Spark.

This movie is about a teenage couple, their names where Noah and Allie. They felt in love in the summer, and they had a lot of fun together; they found out they really were in love. But the problem was that Allie had to leave and she left Noah, because her parents obligated her; Noah wrote Allie a lot of letters, more precise, one letter a day…well I am not going to tell you the whole movie, because I don’t want to ruin you this lovely story.

This movie teaches us the real meaning of love and it teaches us to that nothing is impossible in life, we can do everything we want to do, and we just need to have faith and hope.

It also has a lot of visual effects, because it suppose to be and old movie, and it is really well done, because the music goes with the action the characters are doing, and they are connected with the emotions.

I really recommend you this Film, I´m sure you are going to love it.

Bird's eye shot

Hey guys, I’m going to talk about Bird´s eye shot, it refers to a shot looking directly down on the subject. The perspective is very foreshortened; making the subject appears short and squat.

This shot can be used to give an overall establishing shot of a scene, or to emphasize the smallness or insignificance of the subjects. These shots are normally used for battle scenes or establishing where the character is. It is shot by lifting the camera up by hands or by hanging it off something strong enough to support it. For a scene that needs a large area shot, then it will most often likely to be lifted up by a crane or some other sort of machine.

This shot is usually used to show the place where the movie is going to take place and to show all the things that are happening there.

We can see this shot in almost all the movies, because this shot makes the viewer focus in it, and let them understand it more.

Romance film can be defined as any film in which the central plot is focus around the romantic involvement of the story's protagonists.

Romance Films are always based in the main characters making decisions based in what they feel in their hearts, and the decisions are also made in based of what that person feels about the other.
Some Romance films are:

Add Image
· 10 Things I hate about you
· Dear John
· Love story
· Nothing Hill
· P.S.I LOVE YOU
· The notebook
· Titanic

ALICE IN WONDERLAND !

This Movie is directed by Tim Burton. The main characters are Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham and Anne Hathaway.

This movie is focus when Alicia now at 19 years came back to wonderland, but she didn’t remember anything of her past adventures back then. While her friends try to make her remember what she have done in wonderland, she get in a lot of adventures and meet again with Mad Hatter and with the White Queen; then she discovered that her destiny was to end Red Queen´s reign of terror.

In this movie we see a lot of effects, and it was a great work of Chris Lebenzo, then film´s editor. He used a lot of blue screens and green screens. The harder thing I think it was to make the characters in 3D, because it is already difficult to make the characters look real next to the real people. So I think his work was harder.

They used special effect in every single part of the movie, ´cause everything was made by computer and then they had to put all together with the real actors and the ones who where made in the computer.

For me it is an awesome movie that everyone needs to see sometime. I recommend you to see it.

Special effects

Bluescreens are commonly used in special effects.

The illusions used in the film, T.V, theater industries to simulate events that are not real in a story are called special effects

Special effects are divided in 2 categories: optical effects and mechanical effects. With the emergence of digital film-making tools a greater distinction between special effects and visual effects has been recognized.
Optical effects are also called photographic effects. Optical effects are techniques in which images or film frames are created photographically, using multiple exposure or using an optical printer.

An optical effect are used to put actors or places in different backgrounds.
Mechanical effects are usually accomplished during the live-action shooting. Mechanical effects are often incorporated into set design and makeup.

Since the 1990s, computer generated imagery (CGI) has come to the forefront of special effects technologies.

FORREST...FORREST GUMP

This movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis. This is a comedy drama movie which includes a lot of good visual effects. This film garnered a lot of awards and nominations.

The blue screen was used several times in the movie Forrest Gump.
The movie producers filmed Tom Hanks in front of a blue screen, pretending he was next to the President J.F.K. they used computer effect to insert Hanks into an old film where President Kennedy was. For the mouth movement were hired voice doubles, and some visual effects were add too, to make possible the dialogue.

He is also on the Dick Cavett show with John Lennon; it was so amazing to make this possible. In this scene Forrest Gump was insert in the film instead of Yoko Ono, this scene was taken from the Dick Cavett show in 1971. But what you don’t know is that Dick Cavett played himself for the filming, so he used a lot of make up to look as young as he was at the 70`s.

They also let us see Lieutenant Dan without his legs in several times; they also used the blue screen with that but it was harder, because Lieutenant Dan did a lot of things and he moved everywhere and it was harder for them. But finally they did it.

This great Visual Effects were possible because of Ken Ralston and his team at Industrial Light & Magic work. This visual effects depended a lot in the actor and in the ones who controlled the visual effects, because the needed a lot of concentration to connect the blue screen and the actor, because it had to be perfect. They did a really great work and they made one of the best movies with visual effect that anyone have ever done.

The Butterfly Effect...

The Butterfly Effect is a 20o4 American psychological thriller film directed and written by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber.

Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher), who suffered severe traumas as a boy and a teenager ,blacks out frequently, often at moments of high stress. While in his dorm room reading one of his journals to a girl, he finds that when he reads from his adolescent journals, he travels back in time, and is able to go back to parts of his past. There are consequences to his choices, however, that he then propagates back to the present: his alternate futures vary from frat boy to prisoner to amputee. His efforts are driven by the desire to undo the most traumatic events of his childhood which coincide with his blackouts, including saving the love of his life Kayleigh (Amy Smart), from being molested by her father and tormented by her crazy brother (William Lee Scott).

The actions he takes, and those he enables others to take during his blackouts, change the timeline in the new future wherein he awakes. As he continues to do this, he realizes that even though his intentions are good, the actions he takes have bad consequences. This causes him brain damage. Ultimately he decides that his attempts to alter the past end up only harming those he cares about. He travels back in time once more to the first day he met Kayleigh and scares her away. He succeeds in undoing his childhood as he knew it, and then destroys all his journals so that he's not tempted to bring any of it back.

The film end is the less expected and for me is very sad. The butterfly effect is one of my favorites movies, and Ashton Kutcher is my favorite actor and I think he did a really great job. So I recommend you this movie.

SOUND EFFECTS

It’s an imitative sound, as of thunder or an explosion, produced artificially for theatrical purposes, as for a film, play, or radio program.

In film and television production, a sound effect is a sound recorded and presented to make a specific storytelling or creative point without the use of dialogue or music.

In film the most common are The Hard sound effects, such as door slams, weapons firing, and cars driving by.

These sound effects get the attention of the audience and make more interesting the movie.

BRING IT ON!

Bring it on is a really cool movie was made in 2000, directed by Peyton Reed and written by Jessica Bendinger, it is a comedy about cheerleader like all Bring it on movies. It involved comedy, love and obviously teenagers normal problems, but in a funny way.

Because of that they go through a lot of funny events and it’s an amazing experience for their team; it involved love too, because Torrance found out she was in love with a guy from her school. So guys DON’T loose the opportunity to see this movie it’s really awesome, I love it.

THE SILENT ERA IN FILM

In the silent era of film, marrying the image with synchronous sound was not possible for inventors and producers, since no practical method was devised until 1923. Thus, for the first thirty years of their history, movies were silent, although accompanied by live musicians and sometimes sound effects and even commentary spoken by the showman or projectionist.
Illustrated songs were a notable exception to this trend that began in 1894 in vaudeville houses and persisted as late as the late 1930s in movie theaters. In this early precursor to the music video, live performance or sound recordings were paired with hand-colored glass slides projected through stereopticons and similar devices. In this way, song narrative was illustrated through a series of slides whose changes were simultaneous with the narrative development. The main purpose of illustrated songs was to encourage sheet music sales, and they were highly successful with sales reaching into the millions for a single song. Later, with the birth of film, illustrated songs were used as filler material preceding films and during reel changes. In most countries the need for spoken accompaniment quickly faded, with dialogue and narration presented in intertitles, but in Japanese cinema it remained popular throughout the silent era.

FILM THEORY

Films really blossomed in the 1920s, most US film production at the start of the decade occurred in or near Hollywood on the West Coast,by the mid-20s, movies were big business.

Plays and dances had elements common to films- scripts, sets, lighting, costumes, production, direction, actors, audiences, storyboards, and scores. They preceded film by thousands of years. Much terminology later used in film theory and criticism applied, such as in scene. Moving visual images and sounds were not recorded for replaying as in film.

The big five Studios were: The Warner Bros,Famous player Lasky(Paramount),RKO,MGM,FOX. And the little three Studios were: Universal,United Artists,Columbia Pictures.

One of the most importants was the Disney Studios: specializing in animation; Walt and Roy Disney originally opened their first studio in 1923 in Los Angeles in the back of the Holly-Vermont Realty office, and called it Disney Bros. Studio; in a few years, they opened a new facility in downtown LA; in the late 30s, they relocated to a 51-acre lot in Burbank, and changed their name to Walt Disney Productions

Motion pictures developed gradually from a carnival novelty to one of the most important tools of communication and entertaiment, and mass media in the 20th century. Motion picture films have had a substantial impact on the arts, technology, and politics.

THE HANGOVER (:

Hey guys, well I decide to talk about a movie I just saw today, it is called The Hangover; this was directed by Todd Phillips, written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, and produced by Todd Phillips and Daniel Goldberg.

This movie is about four friends that went to Las Vegas, because Doug(Justin Bartha) was about to married, so his friends Phil(Bradley Cooper),Stu(Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) decided to go there to make a bachelor party for him; next day they wake up and they didn’t remember ANYTHING of what they have done last night.

Then they realized that Doug was missing, they look for him everywhere but obviously they didn’t found him because they didn’t remember what they have done. So they decide to get some clues and to try to remember something about last night, while they were doing that they had a lot of adventures; they found out Stu got married with a stripper named Jade(Heather Graham) and that he had lost one teeth; they got in a lot of problems while they were trying to find Doug: they stole Mike Tyson tiger, they kidnap a Chinese guy and stole from him $80.000 and more.

But at the end everything was solve and they finally found Doug and everything was okay. Doug got married with the love of his life, and all the things got they normal direction. At the end the four friends found Stu photo camera and saw everything they have done.

This was a good comedy that shows us the present of friendship and the effects of having too much fun in Vegas. It is so funny , I recommend you this movie, you can buy it and see it with your friends at home!
